Sometimes it seems as though you have to be a rocket scientist to make money by promoting affiliate products on the internet. Well, it doesn't have to be that way, and I'll tell you why. All the resources are available if you are focus enough to find them.
I've been involved in the online marketing game for a short period. I'm not a guru by any means I just know enough for me to be successful. Affiliate marketing is just like running any regular business; it takes dedication. I don't think you will find any successful business out there that doesn't require dedication. So that brings us to the first step:
Dedication.
First of all what does it means to be dedicated? When I was growing up my grandmother used to tell me consistency and dedication are keys to a successful anything; life, career, job, marriage etc. Dedication means an unwavering way of thinking. You don't let anyone or anything deter you from achieving your goals.
Does it mean you don't take other people's advice and counsel? No, it means focus on your goal and decide what is best for yourself. Go with what resonates with you. When your thoughts are in line then your actions have no choice but to be consistently in order.
Meaning develop a pattern of thinking along the line of "will doing this help me achieve my goals?" If the answer is no, you must decide whether you want to keep doing it. It seems simple but it requires practice to master. Start by making a schedule of what your day should be like. Write down every thing you plan on doing before you start your day.
Part of being dedicated is having a snapshot of what success looks like to you. For example does success look like $50,000 a year or $50,000 a month or higher. Write down what is realistic for you. Ideally dedication requires motivation without that no one would even get out of bed in the morning.
So what motivates you? Is it seeing pictures of your favorite car, mansion, and boat; or emotional images such as taking care of your family or sending your kids to college. Keep your goals with you for easy access. It is very helpful especially when you feeling down.
Now let's move on to the meats and bones of any business. As we have discussed, dedication is required, but more is needed which brings us to our next subject. In step 2 we will discuss some things you can do after reading this article that will bring you money in a week or less.
1.) In your work station remove all distractions that are within your power to banish.
2.) Treat your business seriously, unless this is a hobby in which case you shouldn't read any further.
3.). I use clickbank for finding trusted affiliate programs to promote: Once you find the offer or offers you want, go to work on promoting them.
4.) To help increase exposure for your affiliate business: Write an article a day and post it on a free article directory site. You can find these by doing a search on Google for 'free directories'. There are some paid ones as well, which you can do depending upon your budget. If your budget doesn't allow it, stick to free article directories for now. If writing is not your thing, you can always out source the task.
Find free classified sites to help you increase your exposure exponentially. Keep in mind not all classified directories will allow you to promote with affiliate links. In the event this happens to you, I suggest link forwarding. If you don't know what link forwarding is search on Google you will find some help there!
If you have the resources you can create a website that promotes many affiliate offers. As well as promote your website on search sites like Google, Yahoo, and MSN. If having a website sounds good to you. I recommend adding a form to your site that allows people to subscribe to your information simply by asking for a name and an email address.
List building is quite a powerful strategy that can enable you to increase your sales potential by a few hundred to many thousands. If you don't have the resources it's okay to start small and build as you go.
This is your enterprise don't forget to have fun. You may not become a millionaire in one month or even a year, but you sure are taking the steps that are needed to get you there, one day at a time.
